The North Long Beach Community Action Group (NLBCAG or CAG) was formed in 1994 by concerned community members in response to civil unrest in the early 1990’s. The purpose of CAG is to improve our neighborhoods using the following strategies:
o Maintain or improve property values;
o Improve the appearance of our area through beautification;
o Unify residents, groups and business owners; and
o Plan for the future.
Mission: To be the friendliest and safest place in Long Beach .
Our Motto: “Together we can make a difference!”
Informative, educational and productive meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month at the Long Beach Police North Division Substation. CAG has developed long term relationships with other organizations in North Long Beach such as the NLB Business Association, the NLB Neighborhood Association Executive Committee, the NLB American Legion Post, various churches, NLB Redevelopment Project Area Committee, and area schools.
We organize community dine-outs once a month which afford additional opportunity for community involvement and supports local businesses. CAG has engendered familiarity and openness within the community, regardless of neighborhood or organizational affiliation.
CAG includes neighborhoods within the boundaries of Cherry, Del Amo, to the Los Angeles River to South Street to Atlantic to Harding.
