eComment comes to Long Beach Long Beach has taken another step toward open government...making it easier for residents to comment on Council agenda items. Folks who regularly check the City of Long Beach calendar (agenda) page may have noticed a new link in the right hand column...eComment.

Quoting information about eComment found by clicking the eComment Tab in the left column of the City Clerk's home page, "Constituents can now comment on upcoming agenda items via our website using eComment.To leave a comment users click on eComment on our agenda page (http://longbeach.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx), select the item they wish to comment on and submit their written comment.eComment begins at 4:30 p.m., Friday of the prior week, and closes one hour before the start of the regular Tuesday meeting. Comments are exported into a report and distributed to Mayor and City Council, City Attorney, City Auditor, City Prosecutor and City department staff." Site Planning and Design of the North Library
(April 30, 2011) A new North Library and Community Center is slated for construction in the 5800 block of Atlantic Avenue. The LEED Gold facility will demonstrate Long Beach's commitment to sustainability and stand as an attractive state of the art source of community pride.

(April 30, 2011) On April 23rd, Councilman James Johnson led a small group of community leaders on a tour of apx. 50 acres of city property known by many as the "Sports Park" site and he refers to as "California Gardens." Councilman Johnson's vision is for a regional park that includes rolling hills and natural walking paths.

Redistricting of Long Beach Council Districts
The City officially launched Long Beach's local redistricting website on Thursday, April 28, 2011. This website contains official Long Beach redistricting documents. Posted to the site as part of the press release is a pdf file detailing the demographic changes to the demographics in Long Beach that will be considered in drawing council district boundaries. The site also provides a place for community members to provide public input. Those interested may also sign up for Long Beach redistricting updates through the City's e-notify system.
