North Long Beach always gets left out.Sometimes the Westside gets ignored as well.That’s why many local histories only mention that Long Beach was developed on land that was once part of two ranchos…Los Alamitos and Los Cerritos.Homes that were the headquarters of each have been preserved as historic sites in the city.They represent large parts of Long Beach history, but not all of it.

In 1994, with the recommendation of the Planning Commission, the City Council designated the Pressburg Residence at 167 South Street as an historical landmark in the City.Why this house?What makes it special?
The Pressburg Residence, now known as the Long Beach Dairy and Creamery, recalls the rural agricultural community that was NLB when it was built around 1905. It is one of the oldest homes in NLB, and stands out from its neighbors in scale and architectural type. An excellent example of Victorian architecture, it is the only one in the area. More →
